“Let history say that we understood the precarious moment we are in, where earth’s very ability to sustain itself hangs in the balance. Let history record that we invested in a future that is not dependent on the fossil fuels that have so squeezed our planet’s resources, but that we invested in renewable energy – not simply because it was cost effective but because it was necessary for our earth’s survival…. Restoring creation is God’s own work in our time. May future members of our churches and communities say, ‘They did all they could to repair the damage that was done. And they built a better future.’”
—Rev. Jeffrey Geary, White Plains Presbyterian Church (which in 2017 installed 167 solar panels on its education building and chapel)
The first photo on the left below shows 3 members of the team that brought solar power to the Monroe Presbyterian Church: Cliff, Lloyd and Anthony. The 84-panel system, which was installed on the church the week of November 5, 2018, will create approximately 37,844 kilowatt hours of clean energy in the first year alone. The panels, which have an expected useful life of 40 years, will generate enough electricity to cover about 82% of the church’s entire electricity bill, saving them an estimated $535 per month.
